Faces of Homelessness Speakers’ Bureau
The Volusia/Flagler County Coalition for the Homeless, in cooperation with the National Coalition for the Homeless and Americorps*VISTA, is hosting a Faces of Homelessness Speakers’ Bureau. The Speakers’ Bureau is a group of homeless or formerly homeless individuals who share their stories with the public in an effort to help change many of the stereotypes and misconceptions surrounding homelessness in our community.
This project began in May 2009 under the supervision of two Americorps*VISTAs, Kara Bane and Caitlin Kilgallin. They are the Speakers’ Bureau Coordinators and moderators for speaking engagements, but the real experts on homelessness are the speakers themselves. Coming from many different backgrounds and each with a very unique story to share, the Faces of Homelessness speakers are certain to educate, to engage and to empower their audiences.
